FD Tone Notify Beta Launch

FD Tone Notify Beta Launch – v0.1.0

TwoToneDetect (TTD) stopped being available in mid 2020. As an enthusiast and avid user of TTD I personally felt the hole left by the departure of software and felt the need in the community for an alternative. As the owner of of kjdElectronics (a DIY Electronics Distribution Company) and a Computer Engineer, I felt I could use my experience to create a proper and alternative to TTD. Enter FD Tone Notify!

Note: This is the initial release. We have completed internal testing and verified the core functionality but there will be bugs arising from specific configurations and systems. Please submit bug reports on GitHub

Beta Features – v0.1.0

  • Detect any number of tones from 1 to 5+ (no hard limit) with custom set tolerances and match thresholds. High accuracy and granularity to suit various applications
  • Customizable Pre and Post recording notifications including Pushbullet, native webhook support, emails, and external commands. The pre-recording webhook POSTs a JSON body while the Post recording webhook POSTs multipart-form data including the recorded file. The notification system is modular and easily expandable.
  • Cross Platform and tested on the Raspberry Pi 3. The simplicity and low cost of the Raspberry Pi 3 allows new installations to be deployed quickly and cheaply. kjdElectronics will begin selling a Raspberry Pi FD Tone Notify Kit in the near future
  • All Tone Detect functionality to determine the frequency of the tone(s) if they are not known preconfiguration. This functionality is bundled into the same application and is not a separate executable.
  • Secure configuration methods including environment variable support and secrets files for deploying with security in mind
  • Web based remote monitoring interface with the ability to live stream audio.

Planned Features

I know the hosted audio feature of TTD was popular with many. I plan on creating a web app that includes hosted audio as well as other call management and tracking features.

GNU General Public License v3.0

FD Tone Notify is open source software licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. There is no fee to use FD Tone Notify however donations are welcome and supported. We also offer an extended Support Plan for configuration assistance and ongoing support. Details are available on the Pricing page for donations and the Support Plan.

In regards to the optional hosted audio and online call tracking features: There will be a small fee to support operations, development, and support costs. I’m thinking in the range of $1-$5/month billed annually. There will also likely be options for more storage.
